Investors, at some point, find themself invested in a stock where it seems the stock market is conspiring against the letters of just one ticker symbol.
You might even be saying those letters out loud right now.
The first letter isn’t G-
One example starts with FU-
The other is S-O-F-I
This is not a story about Gamestop GME 0.00%↑, you can watch the movie made about the many people who collectively overtook the shorts, because there were in fact many dollars (people, funds, etc) betting against the stock.
You might have been one of the people who visited the store every day tracking the number of people at the register and found more people each day for weeks. It just didn’t matter because the stock be one step forward, four steps back. week after week.
When does the madness end. Well, the real story is told when there is one step forward for three steps back… then two steps back…. I assume you get the point.
Eventually, this should turn around. And indeed it does. That’s the good news. The bad news is at the bottom of this post. The bad news is not that these stocks are doomed. Quite the contrary, I either own or will own each of these stocks.
So, below is a bunch of math - summarized - for both FUBO and SOFI to see the rally and recoveries (of steps forward and back).
FUBO $1.36B $3.98/sh
FuboTV is/isn’t being acquired by ESPN for a/an (un)fair price between now and sometime or never. Make sense?
2024 saw the stock cut in half from just under $1B (nearly a unicorn) to $450M (from $3.22 to low of $1.10, closing $1.26/share).
2025 was different. Like a cork on the New Year’s champagne after the hangover subsided two trading days into the new year.. opening 2025 with the “LOW of 2025” at $1.29 and then a gapUP reaching exactly a 300.0% gain to $6.45! “SO” WHAT if it gave back 30% quickly, it also rallied 30% just as fast to $5.99.
Here are the rally/recoveries since the $6.45 “HIGH” of 2025…
4.55 -29.45% to 5.99 +31.64% ~1:1
3.78 -36.89% to 4.27 +12.96% ~3:1
3.51 -17.8% to 4.15 +18.23% ~1:1
